NEW FRIDAY: Hays Athletic Coordinator/Head Football Coach Lahue To Retire

After going 9-3 in his initial season as Hays head football coach, Lahue went 16-25 over the next four seasons. Leading the Rebels back to the playoffs in 2017.

iReporter Taylor Ireland confirms #Hays head football coach and athletic coordinator Neal Lahue is retiring at the end of the 2018 school year.

Lahue was named the new football coach in 2013, after his tenure at San Antonio Rosevelt.  His most successful season was 2013, winning 9 games.  With win totals of 4, 5, 3 and 4 over the next four seasons – the highlight was getting the Rebels into the postseason in 2017 – flanked by two other teams that were area champs, State Semifinalist and a State Finalist (Vandegrift, Westlake, Lake Travis).  Coach was always kind to our iReporters, from Sammy Jones’ debut in ’13.  Best of luck, Coach!
