Austin-area Boys Basketball District Finale Slate (February 13)

There will be emotions. For many, the final Varsity basketball game of their careers. Playoff seeding (and missing) on the line, plus all the drama that goes into a night of district finales. Buckle up.

Time flies.  Entering the final night of district play for boys basketball, and we’re in our feels.  Go out and support your favorite programs!  Here are your Tuesday evening options.

DISTRICT 13-6A

Pflugerville (7-4) @ Hendrickson (8-3)

Round Rock (6-5) @ McNeil (6-5)

Cedar Ridge (4-7) @ Westwood (6-5)

Story Line: Battle of the Ville for the 13-6A crown.  Winner of the Mavericks/Dragons moves on to postseason.  Warriors and Raiders would love to mimic their girl team counterparts with a bi-district dub, but that will only happen for one.

DISTRICT 14-6A

Bowie (5-5) @ Manor (3-7)

San Marcos (4-5) @ Del Valle (7-3)

Akins (4-6) @ Anderson (6-3)

Story Line: Anything goes tonight, as all six teams have a shot at postseason play.  ‘Nuff said.  Monitor closely.

DISTRICT 25-6A

Vista Ridge (4-7) @ Westlake (11-0)

Vandegrift (7-4) @ Lake Travis (8-3)

Leander (4-7) @ Lehman (2-9)

Story Line: Because Leander owns the 2-0 head to head edge over Vista Ridge, the Lions have clinched the playoffs despite having similar district records.  We’re still eyes-wide over the Rangers’ upset of Lake Travis last week.  They play the role of ultimate spoiler tonight on the road at district-perfect Westlake.

DISTRICT 19-5A

Cedar Park (12-4) @ Elgin (7-8)

Rouse (14-1) @ Bastrop (1-11)

Cedar Creek (1-14) @ Hutto (9-6)

Georgetown (7-8) @ Connally (12-2)

Story Line: We aren’t crying….you are.  Its been a long district season for 19-5A, with all of the playoff teams set more than a week ago.  It will still be emotional, as five of our area teams’ seniors will play their final Varsity game tonight.

DISRICT 25-5A

McCallum (4-7) @ Austin High (5-6)

Crockett (2-9) @ Travis (1-10)

Lanier (10-1) @ LBJ (9-2)

Story Line: The game of the night is obviously the Vikings versus Jaguars.  Lanier can clinch an outright title with a victory, LBJ can nab a share of the district crown with a dub.  Equally dramatic, McCallum and Austin High battle for the 4th and final playoff spot. The Knights beat the Maroons 48-38 in their January 19th meeting.  Salute to our seniors on the Cougars and Rebels, playing their final Varsity basketball games tonight.
