It’s Easter, and we’re 48 days away from the Austin-area’s first 7 on 7 State Qualifying Tournament (SQT)! Lake Travis won the 2017 State title, and are favorites to repeat in ’18 (Wilson, Card, Eaves, Trevino and others returning).
iReporter Audrey Harrisberger confirmed with head coach Hank Carter that the Cavaliers will host their annual ‘LTSQT’ on May 19th. This is the earliest date ever for an Austin-area SQT. The staff is hoping to avoid a rainout of its initial scheduled date, which happened in 2017. It was the first SQT ever postponed (in the Austin-area) due threat of lightning.
iReporter Kate Connors confirmed with head coach Anthony Wood that the Warriors will host their annual ‘WWSQT” on May 26th. Traditionally, Westwood and Lake Travis have hosted the first two area qualifiers – but the Cavaliers will host the first for a consecutive year.
A select few Austin-area teams will compete in the River City State Qualifying Tournament (RCSSQT) on June 9th.
Lastly, iReporter Kate Callihan confirmed with head coach Todd Dodge that the Chaps will host their annual ‘WSQT’ on June 16th. This is usually easiest the hottest tournament in terms of weather (behind State in College Station) – but it also represents the ATX’s final shot to qualify for a trip to the State 7 on 7 Tournament in College Station.
Two teams from each “SQT” will punch their ticket to the big State Championship in College Station, June 29th and 30th.
